Thanks to Marcie for:
Aw …
This is not English, but a valid construction in Ebonics.
Lexicographer FAIL. The sentence in Ebonics would be “Sinners be welcome”.
I agree with Anonymous. Also, it’s not “Ebonics,” it’s “Black English” …
…or African American Vernacular English, perhaps?
I like “Black English” better. Especially now that ‘black’ is politically correct once again.
I dunno… our text for Nature and History of English probably just chose “Black English” since “Ebonics” seems somewhat dated and forced ;P .
there’s no fail here “sinners” is a surname try replacing it with “smithers” or “woods”
I love it.
May I just say, chacharles, what kind of last name is Sinners in the first place?
And, if I had that name, I wouldn’t go near a church.
A church with Michael Jordan as pastor can use whatever kind of grammar that they want.
“A church with Michael Jordan as pastor can use whatever kind of grammar that they want.”
Nice.
If “Sinners” was my surname, I’d go in all the churches. -_-
Proven!
The bottom right of the sign says “Elder Michael Jordan, awesome basketball star”
Spellcheck isn’t welcome.
Actually I read that as “Elder Herbert Andrew, (? Senior Pastor/Teacher ?)”
Not a bad post,in fact really fine.but I really miss that you didn’t express your opinion in detail, but its ok you just have different approach to writing.
