   That same thing happened to a Big Lots in southern Michigan in late 2006:

   I drove past that store just a few weeks ago, and it looked like they still haven’t fixed the burned-out letter.

   Upon seeing my picture of the store sign, a friend of mine said, “Ah, yes. Big Lots: the store for the discriminating consumer.”

   I found this burnout to be poetically funny because I witnessed the most blatant exercise of racism ever in a Big Lots.
