You have some explaining to do, Wendy’s.

You’d think that if “quality [were their] recipe” that it would apply to all aspects of the business, including making sure that their spelling and grammar is of quality material.

I don’t think it’s the company’s fault itself, it seems as if one of the cashiers drafted it in their spare time, as if to reassure customers, even though it wasn’t nessecery. BUT I agree, FAIL.

    How is this ironic?

Are you saying tomatoes are not a quality vegetable? To see my CARTOONS click on my name link.

It’s ironic because misusing English doesn’t represent good grammar.

Where does it say anything about them having good grammar?

  6. Sçium on June 17th, 2008 at 10:22 am

You would just come to expect that from somebody with ‘good quality’, I would think.

The irony is that their slogan is “Quality is Our Recipe” when in fact, Wendy’s is pretty crappy…

The quality of the sign about “tomato’s” is the ironic part when situated directly below the logo about quality. But I expect spelling and punctation of this “quality” when dealing with fast food restaurants.

Does this mean that Wendy’s wasn’t serving tomatoes in the past?

  10. Aaron T. on June 17th, 2008 at 7:44 pm

David: Yes, in the U.S. there’s been a major recall of tomatoes due to salmonella poisoning over the last couple of weeks.

I would think if grammar were my blog’s focus I would know how to employ the subjunctive mood. ;)

@Aaron T: You seem to have forgotten, it was the FDAs fault that the tomatoes were recalled. See previous post.

Shouldn’t that be, “if quality were their recipe?” English Fail might also FAIL. Oh, now I see that Cat beat me to it.

fast food managers are all completely terrible with english. the GM and assistant at my store are both college grads, yet when faced with the task of putting together a three or four sentence note they somehow manage to make more errors than i thought possible. i’ve started carrying around a red pencil or pen and anonymously correcting all of their errors.

I have been meaning to post something like this on my blog and this gave me an idea. Cheers.
