Maybe they’re open 25 hours a week? Month? Year?

I’m with PollyAnna, they are probably open 25 hours per week.

Just a hunch, but I’m guessing this sign is hanging in the window of the local DMV.

Well, they got your attention, didn’t they. I’m sure that was the whole point…like the speed limit signs in the loop around the mall that are 17 mph. You just stare because it’s weird, though it is actually possible to drive 17mph as opposed to this.

On a related topic, it irks me when I see or hear “24/7/365″. It should be “24/7/52″ or “24/365″.

Hours-Days-Days is inconsistent, but Hours(a day)-Days(a week)-Weeks(a year) makes sense, as does Hours(a day)-Days(a year), even if the latter is a little awkward. I am preemptively nixing any leap year comments.

This supports the claim that Math is failing in our public schools.

They’ll do anything to beat their competitors, even if what they promise is not actually possible.

Plus, what about leap years? If they’re open 24/7/365, does that mean they take a day off every leap year? And if so, would that be leap day, the 366th day (DEC.31), or just some other random day?

  21. August 12th, 2008 at 05:25 | #21

Yes, because they’d buy a neon light for every hour. Coming soon: OPEN 35698 HOURS

That’s the idea. It emphasizes the fact that the store is open 24/7. The failure is that you are not getting it.

It could be a sign they put up only on “Fall Back” day where there is 25 hours. They also put up a sign that says “Open 23 Hours” on “Spring Forward” day.
