   Aha, I see! We’re talking about just one student, therefore “Student Is For McCain,” shortened to “Student’s For McCain.”

   That, or the person responsible for this is an idiot. Time for Occam to apply his razor…

   I never saw this when I started teaching, and now it is one of the most grammar errors I see in student writing (especially online). Where does this apostrophe abuse come from? And why do the same student insist on NOT using an apostrophe in possessives?
