For a while I thought that “machinary” was spelt right, then I googled: “machinery”. Not an unreasonable fail but a bad one nonetheless.

How can a professional sign company make a mistake like this? Baffling.

We have a road being repaired around here, Gutermuth Rd., and all the signs explaining its closure spell it ‘Gutrmuth’. Each of them are professionally done orange signs.

funny thing is if you google “machinary” with quotes around it, you’ll find links from sites that firmly believe it’s the correct spelling.

Signs like this are typically made by people who can’t spell. I am a little more confused with the text on the sign in general since it isn’t a standard construction sign per the MUTCD http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/
