    That can’t be real.

i’m sure it’s not. the sign could be a photoshopped old-people-with-walkers sign, and the words probably said “old people xing” or some such.

It’s a British road sign http://polandian.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/elderly-crossing.jpg (First find in Google images) and has likely suffered from the B3ta.com touch.

Of course it’s shopped. As well as it being blatant, it’s also the wrong font. The UK uses a bespoke font called Transport, and that’s not it.

Why the hell does everyone always jump to the photoshopped explanation? It is just a joke sign someone added.

Oh my. Well, at least the sign is warning people.

Don’t they have walkers in the UK? What’s with the chair?

that would rock if it really did say “old people xing”

The chair is an altered walking stick.

That is the fakest thing ever, and not the least bit funny. Why junk up this awesome site with phony, unfunny crap? There are plenty of legit fails are that hilarious. Stick to those please.

It’s not always easy to discern the fakes from the real ones. Plus, just because it’s fake doesn’t automatically mean it’s not funny. I LOLed at this one. Just because YOU think it’s not funny, doesn’t mean that everyone else thinks the same thing.

Haha, I didn’t even notice that until you pointed it out.

    What Rue said.

This is much funnier than misplaced apostrophe or random typo.

Yeah, I have to agree about the apostrophes. What’s funny about this site IMO, though, is when reality is funny in itself. If someone’s Photoshopping an image, well, that’s what Worth 1000 is for, frankly.

    Again, just my opinion.

Ok, but is this supposed to be a blog pointing out failures in grammar and English usage, or a low-brow “LOLZ” blog? I’m thinking more and more, it’s the latter.

If you just want stupid, base, balneal humor, there’s Digg for you. I like the esoteric grammatical nitpicking. Does anyone else know of any site that is more focused on highlighting egregious misuses of English language? The potty jokes and photoshopping are fine for the kids; I want to learn and share a snobby laugh! I think it’s fun.

(And yes, I will even enjoy people correcting the grammar in this comment!) :)

If you really want EGREGIOUS, try engrishfunny.com. THAT one is pretty hilarious.

Typos can also be funny, as I said many times, but they should be readily apparent and preferrable give a new meaning to the text. There were quite a few of them, I think there’s a lot more of them that were not submitted yet.

    Just some food for thoughts.

i’ll bite, although it’s WC rather than grammar per se. although “balneal” is a word — who knew?! — was that word in the second graf not supposed to be “banal”? maybe??
that said, i agree with the gist of the comment. :)

I meant what I typed; balneal. It means, of or related to the bathroom or bathing. In this case I meant to imply “poop jokes” which is what this blog seems to aspire to these days. Oh, and what does “WC” mean?

  19. zippikat
    November 6th, 2008 at 02:21 | #19

cool. had a (good) feeling that it was indeed intentional, just wasn’t sure the meaning did stretch from bathing to the other bathroom activities (mediocre dictionary = mediocre definitions; my bad).
regardless, even if it had been a typo, that’s not nearly as bad as my not realizing that “WC” — editor jargon for “word choice” — might be an unfortunate, well, word choice in a bathroom thread.

I have to say, as fake as it is, this is still pretty funny.

Funny sign, but funnier is the train wreck created in the following Debbie-Downer comment regarding this very sign.

despite the ‘photo shopped’ sign underneath, maybe it is a fail as the old fart is using his walker backwards, looks more like a chair.
