The funny thing is, I’m not a native English speaker, and it was D&D that taught me the all-important terminological difference between a die (sg.) and dice (pl.). Really! The edition I first looked at explained it pretty well and thoroughly! (This was some first-half-of-1990s edition, shortly before TSR went boom.)
