My guess is that they meant “refrain”, mistyped it as “refraim” (m and n being next to each other and similar-looking), spellcheck gave “reframe” as its first guess (likely of several), and the person blindly went with its first suggestion.
Points to them for addressing the situation though – I once apologised to the checker at Target because the woman in front of me talked on her cell phone the entire time she was being checked out, and never once even LOOKED at the woman helping her. I was so embarrassed to be a human being.
As a cashier myself, I have to tell you that this happens all the time. It’s infuriating (and humiliating) and while we certainly do not expect the NEXT customer to say anything, it was nice of you to have done so!
